HISTORY OF THE STATE BELT RAILROAD
A short history of the State Belt Railroad .

LOCOMOTIVES OF THE STATE BELT
The line rostered 0-4-2T in the early days, then perferred larger 0-6-0s from a variety of builders before entering the diesel age. The line upgraded to diesel electrics during WW2 and once roster five ALCO S2 switchers. Two have been converted to Bio-Diesels and still serve San Francisco at the Port of San Francisco southern waterfront trackage around Pier 96.

STATE BELT ROLLING STOCK
The State Belt only rostered four flat cars and a few maintance-of-way cars.

US Military Operations
The State Belt hosted a number of military trains and connected with trackage at Fort Mason (San Francisco Port of Embarkation - US Army) and also the Presidio of San Francisco (Crissy Field).
