Did you know that a steam engine built for San Francisco's waterfront nearly 100 years ago is still with us today?

San Francisco's historic and only surviving steam locomotive and some of the cars it pulled through the streets, faced an uncertain future when federal government evicted the railroad museum from Hunter's Point Naval shipyard. Locomotive #4 has seen eight years of restoration efforts, thousands of volunteer hours and over $50,000 in contributions spent on making the engine run again. The engine is now in temporary storage in San Francisco, a supporting organization is developing, but a long term storage location is needed, as well as resources and revenue to finish the restoration.

Join us in finding a permanent home for Locomotive #4 and in the restoration effort, so that people will be able to enjoy this significant part of San Francisco railroad history.
